The Wine Magician

By Brian Lemay 100 comments

On a roulé pendant 3 heures,
d’Amish New Age ?
Donc, on a besoin

Yeah, the interviewer does look kind of goofy, but I think he did a good job. Being able to speak and understand French definitely does it more justice and makes it more enjoyable to watch. The direct translations definitely take away from the quality of the conversations.

For all of you saying he's crazy and whatnot you haven't understood the way of life in the south of France. I do believe his wine tastes better as he's not covering his vineyard in sulfates. He's got a tougher job on his hand than most standard winemakers down there which also goes to show he cares deeply about the quality of his grapes/wine.

Actually, there are capitalistic bottles in a sense. A lot of wineries in Texas order their bottles from Mexico because of how inexpensive it is.

I'm not sure if I understand the beliefs this vineyard uses, but I feel better knowing that great care and spiritual attention is being taken with these grapes and wines. Even if the planets didn't have an impact, which isn't too hard to believe considering the way the tide is affected by the moon and the nature of magnetic fields, it must be a fantastic working environment for employees. I bet they don't make any substandard wine by any standards.

Interesting to see this man's point of view, but a damn shame they used such an unprofessional reporter.  Saying things like "some guy" and "stuff" throughout the video, not to mention he admits to being completely unqualified for this video due to no experience with wine tasting! Maybe just send someone who actually knows wine and can give an educated commentary, rather than someone who underhandedly mocks what's around him.  Very disrespectful.  Would love to see more videos with qualified reporters like the man who was in all of the Ukraine videos with his knowledge of the people, language, and topic matter.

What a load of shit. The cows get solar energy through their horns eh? Joly is a fucking crazy loopy nut job. I don't agree in chemical farming, but to suggest he or anyone else on earth has any fucking shred of an idea as to the "life forces" given off by cow shit in a horn or other preps is just bullshit. And a precise cosmic calendar? What crap. And there's people out there willing to believe this dick. He talks as if everyone out there who is not biodynamic is poisoning their soil and they make shit wine? They wine might be magical wines, but bio dynamics has nothing to with it. Simply not poisoning your soil with harsh chemicals will help as will plenty of rainfall and fertile soil as will sanitary winemaking techniques. Nothing more, nothing less.

I totally buy into alternative organic agriculture and permaculture but biodynamics seems too wrapped up in religion, spirituality, and woo-woo. I'm sure there are elements that absolutely work but I can't believe that whether you keep your cow manure in a bull horn or a garbage can makes any difference on the growth of plants.

I cringe when I hear or read the phrase "you can't, or shouldn't judge because……."
Blue is not a natural color, he picked the color because he wanted to be judged different the style clothes he wore and the words he picked to describe what was going on is a style, a style is usually something people pick so others can judge your taste, or even to help others judge his politics, so might as well stop the childish attempt in quieting people from their opinion that is based on judgment.
You might like snakes and aren't afraid to walk up on a python colored snake and pick it up, but you probably wont walk up and pick up the kind with a rattle on the end of its tail, or one wearing black and red colors.
Judgment in all things is why you can eat food that's not rotten, it why you don't walk down certain ally's alone.
No such thing as freedom of speech either, hate to

break it to the world but there are many people in this world that can easily be brought to physical violence on the wrong thing being said.
Stead of trying to censor others for harsh judgments be a better judge of what you want to say, be a better judge of what wearing certain clothes, certain colors or acting a certain way is really saying.
It has been said," To be perceived is to be"

2.
interpret or look on (someone or something) in a particular way; regard as.
"if Guy does not perceive himself as disabled, nobody else should"
synonyms:
regard, look on, view, consider, think of, judge, deem, adjudge
"she was perceived as too negative"

Lack of respect. Really, that's the only thing that stood out to me. There's dozens of people bitching about how the reporter looks like a hipster and this and whatnot, but what stood out to me the the most is his absolute lack of respect towards the person he is supposedly interviewing. You don't have to agree with anything that person says, but at least you need to give them respect.

It is complete nonsense.. pitting farmers against eachother breeding hate and ignorace.. A biodynamic farmer sees his way as the gospel truth, biodynamic is really like a religion for these people, and everyone who dosent practice these ancient witchcraft ways are just wrong!

It's not about producing a wine the natural way, the old way. With no chemicals, but hard work and 100% organic. This is far beyound that, this is organic argiculture mixed with religious fantacism and a hint of witchcraft.

now some one who supposedly did that, comes in and says there are only 2 types of wine … –'

Biodynamic farmers are usually in two different schools. One school tends to follow Steiner in his (literally) off the planet ideas and is not ashamed to proclaim his bizarre philosophy. The other school follows Steiner's ideas but they are a bit embarrassed to fully expound his theories to the public, so they try to couch it in some scientific mumbo jumbo. Each school is basically deranged.
