Pyrat Rum – Fairgrounds Wine and Spirits Video
What’s going down, everybody? Welcome back
to FairgroundsTV. I am your host, Peter Moeller. Today we have a spirit that has come across
my desk numerous times. We’ve had it at the store for quite some time and I am going to
check it out. This is Pyrat XO rum from the, this is the company that makes Patron actually.
I met the rep, I asked her about it. She said “It’s delicious, you gotta try it.” Let’s
give it a sniff. Now, I’m not the biggest rum drinker but when you get these sipping
rums like this, you know, they are aged in oak, just like scotch. They take on a slight
scotch characteristic to me because of the oak. I’m not a huge oak fan but it’s got this
slight Scotch nose to me. But it’s very sweet and it’s got some toffee and vanilla in it.
For me it’s like a palatable scotch almost. I’m just not a scotch fan and this smells
sweet and nice. Let’s give it a taste. You get the slight creaminess on the tongue. You’re
getting the toffee coming through the nose. I’m getting the hint of that scotch a little
bit too. But it’s not like I can’t stand it, it’s good. It’s like a good flavor of oak.
This is a phenomenal rum and you can also mix it so let me show you a little something
I have down here. I’ve got a little can of Gosling’s ginger beer. You know what? I’m
going to use this little bit I have in my glass. So we’ve got a little bit of Pyrat
Rum. I’m going to give it a little more Pyrat Rum because I’m absolutely insane. And Gosling’s
ginger beer. Ladies and gentlemen, this is like that beverage you have all the time called
the Dark & Stormy, just not with the dark rum, with some beautiful Pyrat Rum. I haven’t
had one of these in a while. Fantastically refreshing on a summer day. Not as heavy as
you’d expect it to be from your old Dark & Stormy but give this a check out. This rum is fantastic.
Try a couple cocktails, try it any way you mix it, try it on the rocks. Very versatile
to have in the house, have in the cabinet. Check it out. Check it out at Fairgrounds
’cause it’s cheap. It’s like 27.99 on the shelf! See ya there! Peace!
