How to Pair Wine and Pizza

– I’m Patrick Cappiello
from Pearl & Ash restaurant, and, today we’re gonna
talk about pizza and wine. Pizza’s a pretty common
occurrence in most people’s lives, definitely in mine. It’s one of my favorite
takeout foods to get, and, oftentimes we just
wind up going with beer or Coca Cola or something real simple. But, you can actually do
wine and pizza together and make it be an amazing experience. It’s obviously got to be an Italian wine. For me, the wines from Sicily are some of the most exciting
happening in the country. And this wine from Arianna Occhipinti is a great example of
wine from that region. She’s really inspired a whole ‘nother generation of wine makers that are starting to make wines in Sicily from traditional variatals. This blend of nero d’avola and frappato, and she’s also a winemaker
that works with no chemicals, either in the vineyard or in the wineries. It’s a real natural wine. It’s a robust, powerful,
rich wine with great acidity. Works perfect with tomato
sauce and pepperoni.

No chemicals is impossible. Alcohol is a chemical.
