Harpoon Pumpkin Cider – Fairgrounds Wine and Spirits Video

How ya doing everybody? Welcome back to FairgroundsTV.
I’m your host Peter Moeller and today we have something new. Obviously, the Summer is ending.
We’ve got Fall approaching rapidly and we have all the Oktoberfests and Pumpkin beers
in. This is Harpoon Brewing out of Boston, Mass or Vermont. Windsor, Vermont, depending
where you are. This is their pumpkin cider. It is 4.8 percent alcohol which is pretty
much standard for a cider. I couldn’t wait to check this out. This is the first pumpkin
cider that I’ve heard of. Obviously, you can see the beautiful carbonation in the glass.
It kind of looks like a ginger ale almost, maybe a little bit darker. Let’s give it a
smell. Right up front, those big pumpkin pie spices and I’m getting the sweetness, and
like the aroma of a red delicious apple. Let’s give it a sip. Light carbonation, light on
the tongue. As it lingers, you get those apple pie spices coming through your nose and you
get the nice sweetness of the apple and the pumpkin spices. The sweetness of the apple,
the cider and the pumpkin spices, they’re very well balanced. It’s a good marriage,
if you will. Wow, it’s not too overpowering either, it’s a little bit light. Beautiful
mouthfeel. If you like cider and you love these pumpkin beers, definitely go grab a
sixpack of this. This is fantastic. It’s almost actually perfect for this time of year because
it’s a little cold at night, it’s still a litle warm in the. during the day. This might
be your perfect drink as we transition into Fall. For the Fall time. Well, I dig this
one. Check it out and we’ll see you next time. Peace.

I heard Woodchuck makes a pumpkin cider reserve series, have you had that, and what are your thoughts?

One of our beer guys said he had the Woodchuck. It's apparently quite good, but he did say he preferred the Harpoon as it wasn't overly sweet.

Hello @Cpculliton and @FairgroundsTV! Woodchuck Private Reserve Pumpkin is now hitting stores. Woodchuck Private Reserve Pumpkin is fresh and crisp with natural pumpkin taste at the finish and crafted to be served at 45 degrees for the rich flavors to show through. It is 6.9% ABV (5.5% ABV for PA and TN). We use McIntosh, Red Delicious, Cortland, and other red apple varieties in this cider. It pairs nicely with roasted duck, turkey, squash ravioli, creme brulee and fresh cheesecake. Cheers!
