Alcohol is Toxic

By Brian Lemay 54 comments

Alcohol is Toxic Alcohol is one of the most
dangerous substances humans consume, and yet it’s socially
accepted in many parts of the world. If you don’t do it
when going to parties, you are “uncool” and people consider you
an outcast. In fact, many teen, and especially college, parties
consists of this very toxic substance. People can’t seem
to have a good time without it. Dependency is extremely high, as
are people using “I was drunk” as an excuse. Not to also
mention the number of deaths this substance has caused,
directly (eg. alcohol poisoning) and indirectly (eg. drunk
driving). Responsible people are also hard to come by. It’s
so sad to see the damage this substance causes to so many
people. Alcohol breaks down in the body to acetaldehyde, which
is carcinogenic. Alcohol damages the body physically, mentally,
emotionally, and spiritually. The reason it is “legal” and yet
other substances that are less harmful aren’t is primarily
because there is big money to be made with alcohol. These stores
and bars are strategically placed in locations to draw in
the crowd, especially youth, to generate a profit off the cheap
thrills this substance provides. Please check out these
informative videos.

Sadly I have seen the sad effects of alcohol abuse first hand and personally  , years ago after a bad marriage , and at home. Used responsibly at social gathering fine. However there are far safer ways to relax than a shot of scotch , but in most states it is still illegal  to use what naturally grows in the good earth.
I truly hope that changes , true , if marijuana was legal in ALL states , it would need proper regulation and places for sale.
Not anywhere near schools or government offices , and away from health centers.
Aside from that I am totally for the legalization of marijuana , as I believe it can ease pain and suffering in a more natural way.
I have no idea why it is even illegal , it is far safer than alcohol , it does NOT impede driving if used responsibly .
One drink is not only enough to cause an accident behind the wheel , but you run the risk of losing your license , why , because you need a drink that bad >> ?????? If so get help !!

Thanks for taking the time and effort to make a much needed public service announcement .
Lets just hope your message is heard , Thanks

I agree, my brother is only 19 and is an alcoholic. It's a horrible substance. It ruins the best of people. I'm really happy you made this video, you made some very clear and important points. (Also btw I really adore you and your videos. I think you are very strong and beautiful. I wish you the best)

I don't drink and I'm surprised how accepted it is. I think weed is less harmful but at parties you need to drink or you're weird.

My husband is in the midst of alcohol addiction. He has schitzo effective disorder on top of that and takes 1,000mgs of seroquil. The liver can't handle both of these and we both know he's killing himself. Alcohol is only legal b/c of what happened when we made it illegal in the past. People love the stuff and there will always be a market for it unfortunately. Thank you for this video, I'm showing it to my husband when he comes home <3

Wow. This video came at a perfect time for me. Ten days ago I stopped drinking alcohol to give my body and brain a break because I could tell I was becoming dependent. It took days for me to feel good and to sleep deeply but I'm finally seeing and feeling a positive difference. Alcohol is indeed toxic. Thank you for sharing this.

there is alcoholism in my family. I have clinical depression as do some of my siblings. I figure my father must have too. It is very common for those with undiagnosed depression self-medicate with alcohol. which is so detrimental since alcohol is a depressant. So in my family's case there has been a repeated theme of abuse and self abuse. It's very hard. I have an intestinal disorder so alcohol was never really an option for me. I chose therapy over addiction for my issues! 😀

thank you. It is so strange that its considered taboo to speak against alcohol. Im a teen, never been drunk and have been made to feel like an outcast because of it – the drunk culture is especially disturbing, when young peoples only reason to be excited is a friday night spent blacking out – just imagine! and Im not even talking about the family members that have been wrecked by the substance

I do think that it is important to make people aware of the consequences of alcohol, however i think this video is just centered on the fact that alcohol is bad. In fact alcohol is toxic and it can have serious consequences if taken irresponsibly (especially if it becomes part of your everyday life), but it's important to learn that if taken in moderation it won't really be harmful. Also, I believe the reason it is socially accepted is not because of the money that is made by selling it, but rather because it's part of our culture.

I'm 18 (legal age for consuming alcohol in my country) and I so to say never drink alcohol. It's expensive, lacks value to me and serves me in no way that is productive. If people think I'm boring for that, so be it.

Good point! Also, alcohol itself causes a range of health problems, but some people also mix it with energetic drinks and even with controlled substances that they have to take. The results are catastrophic, but the saddest thing is that society normalizes it as well as pretends that it is not dangerous….
Thank you for the video !!

I used to drink regularly. Maybe once or twice a week. I never considered the consequences because I tried to not overdo it. Eventually I stopped altogether to go on HRT and anytime I get the idea to drink I feel emotionally opposed to do so, and if I end up having a small serving I feel insane regret. I know all I'm doing is causing harm to myself.

I am addicted to alcohol – I can't stop and have tried so many times. It killed my Dad and my friend was killed by a drunk driver, I can't believe even after all that I can't stop drinking it.

Totally, agree. Cultures have drank alcohol for 1000s of years; its in the blood. After years of my own struggle with alcohol I finally gave it up. Not to be a hypocrite, I understand how good it feels to party it up or how it can bring comfort to Empaths such as myself. Eventually, the party days go by, people move on – I found myself alone, destroyed career, marriage, and self worth. What worked for me was experiencing sobriety, it's a drug in a way. No hangovers, or feeling guilty all the time.

You have to think, why after a shooting in the US dose the county want to ban or restrict guns. How many people dose alcohol kill each year in the US but nothing is said. Because it big money and more people drink. Make you think what is public safety

People forget that alcohol is a drug, in fact it's a hard drug because it's both emotionally and physically addictive.

I don't understand this. I know alcohol is toxic but how can a random stranger tell you not to do something. ALCHOL AND ALCOHOLISM ARE TWO VERY VERY VERY DIFFERENT THINGS. And many people will find this disrespectful as a stranger is judging their life choices. Also people don't die from alcohol they die from and addiction so make sure to check you facts. But this is a good video to try and stop alcoholism.

Is it bad that I’m a 12 year old and one time when my parents weren’t home and I decided to try alcohol to see how it tasted and it tasted awful so I decided to never try any sort of alcohol again.

Thank you Autumn. I successfully quit smoking cigarettes because I was able to find mountains of information on the harmful effects of tobacco. I was able to educate myself right out of it!
I drink every night and attempted to do the same with alcohol. There is hardly anything out there about the dangers of alcohol. Just very basic generic warnings that don’t sound all that bad.

I've been thinking the same way for all of my life but lately I kind of stopped seeing evering in black. Alcohol is good for our brain and nerve system but only in small amounts. So small that some people want even feel the effect like one glass or too or less depending on type of a drink a day. But the problem with alcohol is that people just can't stop

Did you just Wikipedia the effects of alcohol, or get this information from your P.E teacher in eighth grade? Or maybe you just read the back of the bottle.

It should be legal. The government does not have the right to tell you what you can consume. Besides look at all the toxic chemicals that are allowed in food.

Here some bands I honestly fucking hate;
American Head Charge
Black Veil Brides [Andy 6 only]
Bloodhouse Gang
Bouncing Souls
Bullets & Octane
Motorhead
Murphy's Law
Pantera [Phil Anselmo only]
Polyphia
Tankard
Ugly Kid Joe
Unwritten Law

They are the bands who are waaaay too addictive to alcohol & they seriously NEED to give up! Alcohol should ONLY be occasionally! I don't mind some good people do it few times in reality but NOT all the time! Fuck me!
